King's Lynn Consortium of Internal Drainage Boards is a contributing authority to Planning processes across Norfolk, where planning applications from both industry and the general public, fall inside the Consortium's three Board boundaries.

We are sent planning applications daily from six local authorities across Norfolk for us to make consent comments. Our Planning Officer utilises our in-house Graphical Information System (GIS) to confirm the site location and its proximity to any of the Consortium's watercourses, before any comments are made and the application returned to the relevant authority.

Consent Comments: As a contributing authority, the Consortium does not have powers to pass or reject any planning application that it is sent to us for comments. Our role is to ensure that the application, if passed, will not hinder nor effect access to the Consortium's watercourses, as well as ensuring the anticipated works will not have any detrimental effect on their water quality or the flow capacity of the channel.

More recently we have been heavily involved in also ensuring that any applications do not effect the many officially designated conservation sites in and around our boundaries.
